Glitz beauty pageants are popular all over the United States. They are not like the natural beauty pageants, in the glitz pageants the young girls wear a lot of make-up, they have spray tans, fake eyelashes and fake teeth. The fake teeth are called flippers and give the young girl a beautiful smile.
Once these girls are done putting on the fake pieces they have to wear on the stage they look like small adults. Don’t be surprised to find that some of them even wear colored contact lenses. The contestants range in age from babies to about five years old. The girls do not have developed speech so that means the pageants are based on outer beauty.
Dresses worn in these events are cupcake style dresses. This is a type of dress that is several inches above the knee and has a lot of lace layers that make the dress stick out from the body. The dresses are also bedazzled with hundreds of stones and gems. The contestants have to learn to walk with their arms held out away from the body because of the shape of the dress.
The girls are taught to use exaggerated facial expressions. They bat their eyelashes a lot and there is also a lot of head tilting and blowing kisses to the judges and crowd. If your child does not like getting dressed up or having all eyes on them then they will probably not do very well in one of these pageants.
This is a type of event for girls that like to be in the center of attention and dress up. They give out a lot of different prizes at these events and the crowns are rather large. The crowns are so big they do not even fit the girls heads. The trophies stand twice as tall as the girls. If you are interested in these pageants they are easy to find.
You may need to make sure you have a child that is able to sit still for a couple of hours because that is about how long it takes to put on all that fake stuff. You have to put on the eyelashes, makeup, and the hair piece. These events are also quite expensive. Some of the dresses the girls wear can cost any where from a thousand dollars and up.
These events are completely different than a natural pageant. Some children that have been in these events find it hard to transition into natural pageants because they are so different. The children love to dress up and strut across the stage in front of the crowds but the mothers of these contestants can become very competitive.
Just remember to have fun with it. It can be upsetting if your daughter doesn’t win but it is important to remember that winning isn’t everything. You and your child should just have fun with it. There are some girls that started these events before they could even walk very well.
Some of the contestants even have their own pageant coaches so they have a better chance of winning the glitz beauty pageants. Some parents fork out thousands of dollars each year on coaches and dresses plus the money they spend traveling around the country to the different events.
